The School Board is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the Superintendent’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2011 Budget and Capital Improvements Program at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 8, in the auditorium of Stonewall Jackson High School. Citizens who wish to speak may sign up beginning at 5 p.m. at the entrance to the auditorium. Each speaker will have up to two minutes to make comments. Superintendent of Schools Steven L. Walts will give a presentation on the budget prior to the public hearing.

The public hearing was previously scheduled for March 17 during a School Board meeting on that date.

Prince William County Public Schools Superintendent Steven L. Walts will present his proposed fiscal year (FY) budget for FY 2011, and the Capital Improvements Program, to the School Board on Wednesday, February 3. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the School Board meeting room in the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center, 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas.

The budget presentation will be broadcast live on PWCS-TV, Comcast Channel 18 and Verizon Channel 36, and via Web cast at pwcstv.com. The Superintendent’s PowerPoint presentation will be posted online following his presentation to the School Board. School finance officials will meet with the news media in the conference room adjacent to the Board meeting room following the Superintendent’s presentation to the School Board.

School Board budget work sessions are scheduled to be held following the Board’s public meetings on February 17 and March 3. A special work session for final markup on the FY 2011 budget is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 at 7 p.m.

The School Board is slated to approve the Superintendent’s Proposed FY 2011 Budget on March 17 and to present its budget to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in early April.
