PWCS TV's “Board Briefs” Program Features School Board Member Betty Covington
Prince William County School Board Member Betty Covington (Dumfries) discusses a range of topics on PWCS-TV’s latest “Board Briefs” program, airing daily at various times on Comcast Channel 18 and Verizon Channel 36 beginning Wednesday, February 3 and running through Tuesday, March 2. The program is also available on demand or as a podcast on pwcstv.com, and via YouTube. Covington shares a recent "glowing" federal review and other good news about the School Division's Head Start program.
She also discusses the School Division's "Grow Your Own" initiatives that address the challenges of recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers. Through the Future Educators Association, Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow Teacher Cadets, and Today's Students, Tomorrow's Teachers programs in high schools, PWCS is steering students toward careers in education with the hope they will return as teachers in PWCS schools.
Covington shares thoughts about the challenges of the difficult budget year ahead and her support of the Teacher Incentive Performance Award program that is currently under development.
“Board Briefs” is a periodic feature on PWCS-TV, with rotating segments of School Board members sharing their views, news, and events taking place in PWCS. The program is produced by the Office of Media Production Services, part of the PWCS Office of Communications Services.
