Improving Behaviors Workshop Set for December 3

Westridge Elementary School’s Parent Support Group will host a workshop for parents presented by Kirk Martin, nationally recognized educational expert who has trained over 75,000 parents and teachers, on Thursday, December 3 from 7–9 p.m. at Westridge Elementary School, 12400 Knightsbridge Drive, Woodbridge. The workshop is free and open to the community. No registration is required.

“Creating a Stress-Free Home and School,” will provide practical strategies to address the following:

  • Create a Stress-Free home—eliminate yelling, arguing and power struggles (even with teens);
  • Channel disrespect and defiance into problem solving;
  • Help improve focus, attention and behavior in school;
  • Relieve anxiety and sensory issues;
  • Help students develop vision, internal motivation and responsibility;
  • Create stress-free discipline and homework time; and,
  • Get your kids off their video games without saying a word.

Martin will also explain why some kids are bossy, anxious, and easily overwhelmed; sabotage friendships, demand fairness and say, “I’m bored”; like to argue, fidget, make noises or chew; have difficulty writing, sleeping and maintaining eye contact. Medication, nutrition and handling siblings will be addressed as well.
